Abstract
Actinomycosis is a chronic supportive and granulomatous disease caused by gram-positive bacteria, the Actinomycosis israelii, which are normal flora in the oral cavity and gastrointestinal tract of people and animals and characterized by sulfur granule formation. Actinomycosis infection can involve cervicoface, chest, abdomen and pelvis and the most common location is the appendix or ileocecal region of the intestine. The most common predisposing factors were intrauterine contraceptive device, previous trauma, appendectomy, colon diverticulum, and gastrointestinal perforation. Primary gastric actinomycosis is an extremely rare disease. Two cases of gastric actinomycosis were reported in people who had subtotal gastrectomy for stomach cancer. We experienced a case of gastric actinomycosis in the 42-year-old woman who had recurrent gastric ulcer. Endoscopic biopsy from ulcerative lesion on stomach revealed the
sulfur granule. She received amoxicillin for about 60 days. Follow-up endoscopy showed complete healing.
